GLOBIS University’s Full-time English MBA Program Celebrates Class of 2018

CATEGORIES:GLOBIS UNIVERSITY

Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo ー GLOBIS University held the graduation ceremony for its Full-time English MBA program on August 19th (Sunday). This sixth batch of graduates saw 26 aspiring business leaders from ten countries. The English MBA program, which consists of a Full-time MBA, Part-time MBA, and Online MBA, has reached 402 participants since the part-time program’s launch in April 2009.

President Yoshito Hori offered these words at the ceremony: “We encourage you to be adventurers and visionaries. Be courageous, enjoy adversity in hardship. Doing so, you will become role models of those who follow you.”

Two graduates also spoke at the ceremony: Philippine native Ms. Jamaica Lorna Bagay and Mr. Guillaume Zakonicky from France. Ms. Bagay reminded her classmates that “the secret of motivation and inspiration lies with appreciation. Gratitude gives us peace for today and creates a bright vision for tomorrow.” Mr. Zakonicky likewise focused on reflection: “During [this past] year, we were asked to think deeply about our own life, clarify its purpose, and identify what is truly important to us. Let’s continue to nurture and reflect on our personal missions for the months and years to come.”

Student Activities
1. Technovate MBA Courses
GLOBIS University is developing special Technovate courses to train a new era of business leaders who understand state-of-the-art technology and innovation. In addition to existing courses such as Industry 4.0, the 2017 English MBA program offered new options, including Leading Big Data Strategy and Technovate Thinking. Students learned about new business challenges, opportunities, and solutions for the Technovate era.

2. Japanese Culture, Management, and Innovation Courses
For the first time, GLOBIS offered a special Japan MBA Experience (JMEx) course to introduce students to Japanese culture, management, and innovation. Over three days at the end of August, students enjoyed such wide-ranging experiences as zazen (a Buddhist meditative discipline) at Goshoji Temple, a Japanese company visit, and special guest lecturers.

3. 100% Internship Success through Corporate Mentorship Program (CMP)
GLOBIS continues its CMP efforts through alliances with over 100 global companies in Japan. These alliances provide internships and activities to learn about the work and corporate culture of Japanese companies. In fiscal 2017, 100% of the students seeking internships were successful in their search. A special lecture was also held by IBM Japan. Many of this year’s graduates were able to confront real management issues and make recommendations.
