GLOBIS English MBA Program Alumni Tops 300
(Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) 29 new MBA graduates from 15 countries became GLOBIS Alumni on Sunday, August 27, bringing the total number of graduates from the Part-time and Full-time English programs to 329. Since the first MBA programs started in 2009 (Part-time) and 2012 (Full-time), GLOBIS graduates have been active in Japan, throughout Asia, and the world.
Two graduates represented their class with speeches. Ricardo Aurelio Cruz Rivera, of Mexico, asked his classmates to sum up their one-year MBA in one word. After tying the responses together, he chose for his own word as "impermanence," saying, "In plain English, it means nothing lasts forever. Everything is changing, transient, evanescent, inconstant. Thus, cherish what you have today, as you will never know when things will change. Next, Kristine Janice "Jab" Bandayrel, of the Philippines, encouraged her classmates to pursue their dreams, "Let's make fireworks in our own spheres of influence, one step at a time, one day at a time."
GLOBIS University President Yoshito Hori echoed this theme, based on his own experiences founding GLOBIS 25 years earlier: "There is no right answer to your Kokorozashi," referring to the concept of personal mission, a key component of the MBA Curriculum. "You may never know what mission is right for you until the end. However, what is most important is to keep on pursuing your mission. Knowing your mission will set the direction of your life and give you the energy when you confront difficulties.
About the 2016-2017 GLOBIS MBA (Full-time) Program:
1. Over 50% of students took Online Courses
The GLOBIS Online English MBA program started in January 2016. Out of 29 graduates, 17 took online and on-campus courses simultaneously. In October 2017, an integrated "Part-time On-Campus and Online MBA Program" will be opened. By taking courses online, students can earn a GLOBIS MBA from Japan or overseas, no matter where their career takes them.
2. Exposure to over 100 companies in the Corporate Mentorship Program (CMP)
FTMBA graduates were exposed to 113 CMP global companiess in Japan through internships, on-site visits, collaborations on corporate research projects, and potential job opportunities. Along the way, they learned about Japanese corporate culture and leadership development.
3. Participated in a diverse array of extra-curricular activities
Throughout the year, students took part in extracurricular activities, including global training sessions with Japanese companies, earning MBA credits at CEIBS in Shanghai, China's No. 1 business school, experiencing omotenashi at a Hoshinoya Resort, and networking with leaders from around the world at the G1 Global Conference in Tokyo.
